Unstable Comminuted Trimalleolar Left Ankle Fracture with Surgical Fixation - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This stock medical exhibit shows an unstable comminuted trimalleolar left ankle fracture with surgical fxation in a series of illustrations. The first two illustrations show the post-accident condition, including a spiral fracture of the fibula, a medial fracture of the tibia, posterior fractures of the tibia and loose bone debris and lesions within the joint. The third illustration shows fixation of the posterior tibial fragment through an anterior stab incision. Placement of a plate and screws for fibular fixation through a lateral incision are indicated. The fourth illustration shows fixation of the medial tibia with lag screws through a medial incision. The fifth and sixth illustrations show the post-operative condition, including the hardware in place as seen in anterior and medial views of the bones of the lower leg and foot.
